Weekend Fishing/Rockhounding buddy-Tacoma Area (Tacoma)
Hello, I'm Adam. I'm looking for weekend buddies to go fishing and rockhounding with. I live in Tacoma about 2 miles from the Museum of Glass. I'm 56, happily married with no dependents left at home. Other than my dogs. I have many other interests that my wife usually joins me for. Fishing, rockhounding, football and darts she has no interest in.
I have a 12' aluminum boat with a 9.9 HP motor that fired right up the last time I used it. I have lots of really sweet fishing/crabbing gear but no skill in backing my boat trailer into the water. I use to fish often in my youth but gave it up in my early 40's to take up other hobbies. I'd like to start going again but I don't want to go solo and I don't want my wife to feel obligated to go with me. I'd fish in either salt or fresh water from shore, dock or boat.
Rockhounding is something I just started doing in 2025. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos on the subject and have found a few cool fossils that I brough home for garden decor. I have studied the tide charts for the best times to hunt on saltwater beaches. Weekend daylight low tides start in March and are more often June to August. So far I've only hunted around a few saltwater beaches but I'd like to go to some easy to reach creeks in the hills and look for geodes and whatnot. I do not have any mountain hiking left in me. Triple torn meniscus a decade ago that has progressed to me needing a knee replacement.
