We provide rides to seniors and others that can’t get to doctors and hospital visits by themselves. They are elderly and no longer drive, may not have a car, or current medical condition makes it impossible or dangerous for them to drive. MUSC and Roper Hospitals support this charity, most rides are “there and back”, meaning we take the “guest” to the appointment and then pick them up when appointment is over and take them back home. there is some money to compensate drivers for their time and gas as that has gotten a bit out of hand lately. Most rides take about 2 hours in total, sometimes more, and we need drivers that are in the downtown or “hospital area” (or close by) but also out in the Summerville and other somewhat remote areas. The work is very fulfilling as the riders are extremely appreciative for the service we provide. We need people that can provide one or two rides a week or some that can do more.
