This is a book club which primarily focuses on Ancient Greek philosophy and history, where we read and discuss classic works by the Presocratic philosophers, Plato, and Aristotle, as well as historians such as Herodotus and Thucydides. During our meetings, we might sometimes spend time reading texts together, comparing the original Greek with different translations. We might also explore different possible meanings in the context of different periods of European and American history. If you love reading, thinking, and talking about ideas, please consider joining our group. We will meet informally at an uptown coffeehouse starting in April.
